Liverpool ‘unlikely to make any January signings’

Liverpool are reportedly not planning on making any signings when the January transfer window opens for business despite the team’s injury problems.

The Reds have lost both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-term knee injuries, leading to suggestions that the Premier League champions would enter the winter market for a new centre-back.

However, according to The Athletic, the performances of Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips have made a strong impression on head coach Jurgen Klopp.

Fabinho has also impressed while operating at the heart of the defence, while the back problem that forced Joel Matip to miss Wednesday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur is not thought to be serious.

As a result, the report claims that the Merseyside giants are unlikely to make any new signings at the start of 2021 despite being heavily linked with a number of centre-backs.

Liverpool, though, are allegedly open to offers for Belgian attacker Divock Origi.
