Le Télégramme are reporting this morning that Premier League side Liverpool are set to submit a formal offer to Rennes for French midfielder Benjamin André next week.
According to an English source contacted by the newspaper, the Reds will offer €17m for the Ligue 1’s interception king (329 interceptions made last season).
Liverpool have scouted the player extensively.
Throughout the summer, Liverpool have been searching for a new midfielder to add to their squad.
Of course, the club’s top target was RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita, however the Reds were unable to convince the Bundesliga side into selling their box-to-box midfielder.
Now, according to reports in France, Liverpool are looking 27-year-old Andre.
Andre joined Rennes back in 2014 after spending six years with Ajaccio.
Since moving to Rennes, Andre has played over 90 Ligue 1 matches, scoring just one goal.
