Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij has been linked with a move to Liverpool but it appears that he will sign a new deal at the club. However, once he signs the deal, there will be a buy-out clause in there of approximately €25m, reports claim.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with the player as their need for defensive improvement grows with a lack of strong options in central defence.
Liverpool will wait until the summer to see if they can get the player on a free rather than paying the amount mentioned earlier.
Two official Liverpool scouts went to Rome on Monday in hope of securing a possibility of the player joining the Reds.
The central defender featured in the 3-1 loss to Torino last-night and didn’t cover himself in glory making a number of high profile errors.
Barcelona have also shown interest in the player ,which was highlighted in a Catalan newspaper yesterday. If the Spanish giants’ interest grows, then they may face a tussle with Liverpool for the signature of the player.
