Liverpool star Adam Lallana has insisted that manager Jurgen Klopp can “charm” transfer targets this summer.
The current campaign may not yet be over but thoughts are already beginning to turn to next season and how Liverpool can bolster their resources as they look to challenge for the Premier League title.
Getting into the Champions League, an objective that can be achieved with a victory against Middlesbrough on Sunday, would certainly boost Liverpool’s chances of securing their top transfer targets.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Lallana said: “Getting in the top four certainly enhances our chances of attracting top names.
“There’s a really good core in the squad here so it’s about building around it. We trust the boss, the recruitment staff and the owners. I am sure the funds are there and the manager will have his targets.
“I’m convinced that if the manager meets a player then he’ll have a great chance of getting him. He’s got that ability to charm a player and makes you feel that you want to play for him.
“A bit of extra competition never hurt anyone. I think it will improve all of us. No disrespect, but strength in depth this season has possibly been an area which can be improved on.”
Klopp has managed to get his Liverpool team to play some superb football this season – they have created 478 chances in the Premier League – but a lack of consistency has proven to be the club’s undoing in terms of challenging for the title.
The German is still waiting for his trophy as Liverpool manager but the signings he makes this summer could play a pivotal part in improving the club’s fortunes next term.
