Liverpool Star Wants Place Back From New Signing

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet says he ‘expects’ to start against Manchester United despite being overlooked in favour of Loris Karius in recent weeks.

The Belgian stopper last played in the Reds’ 2-1 win against Chelsea on September 16th but was dropped for German Karius for the last three matches.

Karius, 23, arrived at Anfield from Mainz in the summer and had been expected to retain his spot for the visit of arch rivals Manchester United on Monday night.

However, Mignolet’s confidence is clearly unaffected by his recent struggles and says he expects to win back his place for the blockbuster clash.

‘I look at the positives and expect and hope to play against Manchester United,’ said Mignolet.

‘I can take confidence from my good start in the league. At Arsenal, Tottenham and against Leicester, I was important to the team with some good saves.

‘I don’t know what the coach will decide. I can just make sure I’m ready 100 per cent. Whether I play or not, nothing will change my preparation. It is not in my character to not give 100 per cent.’
