LIVERPOOL midfielder Lucas Leiva is reportedly a January target for Brazilian outfit Atletico Mineiro.
Lucas, 30, has been linked with a move away from Liverpool in this month’s transfer window after falling out of favour under Jurgen Klopp.
He has started just three games for the Reds in the league this season and was left out entirely for their 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday.
But despite his lack of game time, The Mirror claim Klopp is keen for Lucas to stick around.
The Brazil international is said to have already rejected an approach from Inter Milan.
But that has seemingly not deterred Atletico, who have reportedly launched an audacious bid to take Lucas back to his homeland.
However, according to Rario 98FM, as reported by local outlet UOL, they face an uphill battle to sign the former Gremio man.
Lucas is reportedly hoping to join another European club if he is to leave Anfield at all.
He joined Liverpool in the summer of 2007 and has gone on to make over 300 appearances for the Merseyside outfit, winning a sole League Cup in the process.
There are 18 months left to run on his contract at Anfield.
