Liverpool shirts are now three times as popular as Manchester United shirts

The Reds are one of the best teams in the world these days and are the current holders of the Champions League.

Their success under the German has been the polar opposite to the stagnation over at bitter rivals Manchester United.

Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013, the Red Devils have steadily declined.

These days, they are merely top four hopefuls and are slowly losing their popularity worldwide.

And according to data from Love the Sales, Liverpool’s new home kit is three times more popular than United’s.

Per the Liverpool Echo, the sales company state: “Thanks to Alex Ferguson, Liverpool have spent the best part of 30 years in Manchester United’s shadow.

“But impressive league form and positive transfer dealings saw Liverpool overtake Manchester United in terms of kit popularity during the 2017/18 season.

“Liverpool shirts are now three times as popular as Manchester United’s kits.”

The Reds’ successful Champions League campaign in 2018/19 boosted demand for all Liverpool shirts by 76%, making them comfortably the most popular club in England.

Their rise to prominence has been so impactful that Alisson Becker’s slick new goalkeeper shirt is popular than a number of other teams’ home jerseys.

Love the Sales add: “The jersey is so popular with fans that it’s more in-demand than most Premier League home shirts, including Everton, Newcastle United and West Ham United’s.

“The shirt is worn by Brazilian shot-stopper, Alisson (Becker), and is currently the 11th most popular football shirt in England.”

New Balance are reaping the benefits, but Liverpool are eager to find a new sponsor that will offer them a yearly fee close to the £75m United receive from Adidas.
