Liverpool have entered the race to sign Brazilian star Malcom from Bordeaux, according to reports.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have all expressed interest in signing the 21-year-old forward in the past year. But Liverpool are looking to beat their Premier League rivals to a summer deal as Jurgen Klopp bids to bolster his attacking options.
The Reds are set for a top-four finish this season and could yet win the Champions League – they face Real Madrid in the final in Kiev later in the month.
But Klopp knows further spending is necessary to keep up with Liverpool’s rivals and he has identified Malcom as a top target, according to the Daily Mail.
Malcom, who has scored 21 goals in 94 appearances for Bordeaux since signing from Corinthians in 2016, is one of the most highly-rated players in Ligue 1.
He was heavily linked with Manchester United and Arsenal over the winter and looks destined to finally leave for the Premier League at the end of the season.
Liverpool have included Malcom on a shortlist of targets that also includes Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey and Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.
Malcom is valued at around £40million and Bordeaux have essentially confirmed he will be sold this summer.
Nicolas de Tavernost, one of the French club’s majority shareholders, said last month: ‘There is a major player from Brazil who you know wants to leave the club and we will do that in all of our interests.
‘It is the reason we bought this player in the first place, to eventually sell him in between seasons.’ He added.
