Leipzig have sent Liverpool and Arsenal a warning over their pursuit of Naby Keita ahead of the summer transfer window.
Keita has greatly impressed since moving from Red Bull Salzburg to Leipzig last summer and the 22-year-old midfielder is already being linked with a number of top European sides.
Reports suggest Jurgen Klopp is closely monitoring the €20m-rated Keita and considering him as a potential replacement for Emre Can. The Germany international has been often criticised toe to his unconvincing displays this season and might leave in the summer, with Serie A Champions Juventus said to be interested.
The Guinea international also revealed last August that he had rejected the chance to join the Gunners after a phone call with Arsene Wenger.
It’s understood Bayern Munich are also interested in the youngster but it’s clear Leipzig are determined to keep hold of their prized possession.
‘I don’t know anything about Bayern interest. Naby’s an extraordinary player who could play in any European top team. – RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick told Sport1 Doppelpass.
‘I don’t know if he’ll play for us for three or four more years. No one knows – we can’t all look into a crystal ball. But I think it’s very likely he’ll play for us next season.
‘We wouldn’t swap Keita with [Paul] Pogba for our style of play.’
Keita spent Saturday night in hospital after collapsing following Leipzig’s 1-0 home defeat to Wolfsburg with what his club said was “an acute stress reaction.” according to his club.
