Liverpool have entered the race with Tottenham to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, according to reports.
Having failed to gain promotion to the Premier League, Villa are now in serious financial difficulty and face the prospect of selling their key players. Villa value Grealish at £40 million but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has made a £20m offer.
According to The Sun, Liverpool have also registered their interest in the 22-year-old and are willing to better Spurs’ £20m offer. The report also claims that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has made Grealish one of his priority targets for the summer window.
Liverpool already have two new midfielders ahead of the new season in Naby Keita and Fabinho. But with Emre Can set to leave on a free transfer, Jurgen Klopp is looking to bolster his midfield options even further.
Earlier this week, Nabil Fekir’s agent also gave Liverpool fresh hope after claiming that the midfielder’s transfer saga ‘is not over’.
