Liverpool re-enter the race to sign £38m dream Brazilian target

LIVERPOOL have been alerted that previous transfer target Alex Teixeira has been transfer listed by his current club.

The Brazilian rejected the Reds to move to China in January 2016. But his two year spell with Jiangsu Suning looks to be coming to an end.

Liverpool made an approach to sign Teixeira, then of Shakhtar Donetsk just after Jurgen Klopp was installed as manager. But the Reds were only willing to pay about £24.5m for Brazilian striker.

Teixeira maintained he wanted to join the Reds, but after the European transfer window closed he was left with few options.

“Let’s put it like this: everyone always knew that I wanted to stay in Europe and move to the English Premier League club,” Teixeira told Shakhtar’s official website at the time.

“But, unfortunately, all the proposals that came from them, were somewhat windy and did not contain anything concrete.”

Teixeira ended up moving to the Chinese Super League for a staggering £38m fee. But according to Tuttosport, new manager Fabio Capello has decided the forward is surplus to requirements.

That news will no doubt be of interest to Liverpool, but Inter Milan are also thought to be keen on Teixeira too.

Klopp has two Brazilians in the form of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino but would undoubtedly be keen to add another.
