Liverpool preparing £9m bid for 23-year-old striker

Liverpool are poised to swoop for Bordeaux striker Gaetan Laborde and are readying an offer for the former France U20 international.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is eyeing up reinforcements this summer with a return to Champions League football next season secured by a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.

And, according to Le Parisien, Laborde is on a list of transfer targets, with Liverpool ready to offer around £9million for his services.

Laborde, who turned 23 in May, scored 13 goals in all competitions last season and also laid on five assists.

Despite netting just six of them in 36 Ligue 1 appearances, French football writers Jeremy Smith and Eric Devin hailed his form throughout the year:

While his goal record isn’t overly inspiring, it’s equally worth noting he only started 25 matches in all competitions, so 13 strikes overall isn’t a bad return.

He still needs to prove he can be a prolific goalscorer, but if brought in relatively cheaply he could be an astute buy.

Laborde is under contract until 2020, putting the French giants in a strong position to dictate any transfer agreement.

Klopp is hopeful of bolstering his attacking options during the early stages of the summer window and the Frenchman seems a ready-made pick.
