Liverpool are ready to turn to Lazio’s Stefan de Vrij to help solve their defensive crisis.
The Reds have already leaked eight Premier League goals this season in just four games, while they also conceded two against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday.
As a result, manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to reinforce his defence during the January transfer window.
But with a move for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk looking unlikely, according to Calciomercato, Liverpool will swoop for De Vrij instead.
The Dutchman has been one of the star performers for Lazio ever since he joined them in 2014 off the back of a good showing at the World Cup.
Liverpool looked at signing him in the summer and, after a shaky start to the season at the back, they are ready to return.
