Jorginho is keen to stay at Napoli beyond this season but his agent admitted that his future is in the Serie A club’s hands as Liverpool continue to be linked with the Brazilian.
The 26-year-old has impressed as part of Maurizio Sarri’s title chasing side and Jurgen Klopp is thought to be keen on bringing him to Anfield. With the Reds firming up their interest, Napoli have begun monitoring Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira as a potential replacement.
But Jorginho’s representative Joao Santos is unconcerned by the thought of the Uruguayan arriving at Napoli, and expects his client to still be a key part of Sarri’s side.
Santos told Italian radio station CRG: ‘Torreira to Napoli? First off, I hope that Jorginho plays for the national side. ‘If Torreira does arrive, then he will likely start as a sub.
‘I don’t know what Napoli’s plan is but Jorginho doesn’t want to leave Sarri’s team. ‘If there are offers for him and Napoli agree, then we could maybe talk about it but let’s see. ‘Jorginho still has another two years of his contract and he could even renew his deal with Napoli in months to come.’
