Liverpool must make definitive move as world-class No.10 makes huge announcement

The sublime Isco is blatantly unhappy at Real Madrid.

The Spanish playmaker, one of the most talented footballers on the planet, is experiencing problems under Zinedine Zidane and last night spoke following Spain’s 6-1 win over Argentina about his current predicament.

He doesn’t so much as state openly that he wants to leave, but the implication is undeniably there:

‘I have the confidence of the coach [Julen Lopetegui] and maybe in Madrid I have not won that yet,’ he said, reported in the Metro.

‘That’s why the national team is so important for me as it gives me life.

‘If I am not starting and don’t have continuity for my club then I must seize all my chances.

‘I aim to be a starter for both my club and international team but the only way I can do that is to keep working hard. ‘There are many great players at Real Madrid, maybe I am the problem.’

The Metro link Isco to Manchester City and Arsenal, but if they’re mooted as potential buyers, there’s no reason Liverpool couldn’t be, too.

We sold Coutinho in January for £142m and didn’t spend any of it on a replacement.

We’ve actually managed just fine without him, with Jurgen Klopp using Sadio Mane in a deeper, more creative role, but there’s room in the squad for a talented attacking midfielder.

Isco fits the bill beautifully, especially if he pines for a transfer away from Madrid and Zidane.

He’d be phenomenally expensive, but would be worth it. Aged 25, he’s probably the only player of Coutinho’s level who’d be a realistic transfer.

City simply don’t need him, and while Arsenal have shown an ability to attract stars recently, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp is a far more attractive proposition.

LFC have ended interest in Thomas Lemar to focus on more exciting targets.

Hopefully Isco might be one of them.
