LIVERPOOL and Juventus have missed out on Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka to Bayern Munich, according to reports in Italy.
Leon Goretzka has put a number of teams on red alert as he is out of contract with Schalke in the summer and available on a free transfer.
He will be free to discuss terms with new clubs in January, when he has just six months remaining on his current deal.
Liverpool and Juventus have both been showing interest in the 22-year-old Germany international.
However, Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim both sides are set to miss out to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The report says Juve have been scouting him for a long time as their director of football Fabio Paratici is a long-term admirer of the midfielder.
And the Reds are among a host of Premier League clubs also keeping tabs on the former Bochum player.
But it is said Bayern have already prepared a contract for Goretzka which will be submitted in January.
And they are confident it will be accepted, with the Germany international making the move to the Allianz Arena next summer.
Bayern were said to have already agreed terms with Goretzka earlier in the summer but he dismissed the claims at the time.
“Honestly, it is really getting on my nerves,” he said.
“I can see why it interests people but I can only repeat once again, there’s nothing new to report with Munich.
“I have clearly denied there is an agreement in place – with any club. I can promise you this is the case.”
