Liverpool lining up £36m move for Real Madrid defender Eder Militao

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a £36m bid for Real Madrid defender Eder Militao.

The Merseyside club’s injury issues have worsened during the international break, with England’s Joe Gomez forced to undergo surgery after suffering a serious knee injury.

Gomez has joined Virgil van Dijk on the sidelines, potentially for the remainder of the season, and the Reds are widely expected to enter the January transfer market for a new central defender.

According to reports in Spain, Jurgen Klopp’s side have identified Militao as a potential acquisition, with the Brazil international largely struggling to show his best form for Madrid since arriving from Porto in July 2019.

Liverpool are said to be lining up a £36m offer for the South American, although it remains to be seen whether Los Blancos are prepared to sanction his exit in the middle of the season.

Militao has only made three appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side this term.
