He didn’t cover himself in glory during the recent transfer window, but Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with a move for Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Ramirez.
According to reports on an Italian news site The Reds are considering a move for the attacker, who has had a chequered history to date in the Premier League.
He put a transfer request in last month to try and force a move from the Riverside, but despite attention from Leicester was prevented from leaving the club and is now looking to rebuild his standing at Middlesbrough.
He initially signed for Southampton from Bologna in the summer of 2012 and had a difficult playing career for The Saints, and was ultimately released at the end of his contract following several loan spells. The last of which was at Middlesbrough, and he signed for the club as a free agent last summer.
A knee injury has meant Ramirez had missed a number of recent games for Boro, but a decent start to the season means he has two goals and three assists on the board so far this campaign.
Comparisons with Adam Lallana don’t necessarily flatter the Uruguayan. But, he did score seven times for Boro last season and is a seasoned international – with 41 appearances for his country. If Jurgen Klopp is looking for a decent addition to his squad he may well fit the bill.
