Liverpool are currently leading the goal scoring charts having scored 70 goals in 34 Premier League fixtures.
The Reds have been fantastic in the attacking third but they have been a completely different side in the absence of star playmaker Sadio Mane. The Senegalese international has been Liverpool’s best player this season. Currently, he is out injured with a knee concern.
Klopp surely needs more quality and depth in the attacking department and reports suggest that Liverpool are interested in hiring the services of Brazilian international and Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa.
According to reports (Express via Italian source TuttoSport), Liverpool are leading the likes of Juventus and Tottenham to hire the services of the £35million rated playmaker.
The 26-year-old attacker was brilliant under the management of Pep Guardiola but since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, he has normally warmed the bench at the Allianz Arena.
Costa has so far started 13 league games this season, scored 4 goals and also provided 6 assists. Overall, in 18 starts for the reigning Bundesliga champions, he has directly contributed in 16 goals (7 goals and 9 assists) in the current campaign.
Renowned for his pace, skills and long shots, Douglas would be a top signing for Liverpool. The idea of three Brazilians (Coutinho, Firmino and Costa) lining up in the Reds’ attack should sound exciting to the Anfield faithful.
The former Shakhtar star’s current contract with the German giants will expire in 2020. He made his senior international debut back in 2014 and in 18 games for Brazil, he has scored three goals.
