Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Ajax starlet Perr Schuurs following a defensive crisis at Anfield.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has already lost Virgil van Dijk to a potentially season-ending injury, while makeshift centre-back Fabinho limped off against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League in midweek.
As a result, Nathaniel Phillips deputised alongside Joe Gomez in Liverpool’s win over West Ham United, but Klopp is believed to be eyeing up reinforcements as the Premier League champions look to defend their title.
According to The Mirror, Klopp was impressed by Schuurs’s showing in Ajax’s Champions League defeat to the Reds, and Liverpool will not hesitate to move for the 20-year-old in January.
However, the report also indicates that Liverpool will not be the only ones vying for Schuurs’s signature, with the former Reds triallist gaining the attention of a number of top sides since breaking into the Ajax first team.
Schuurs is tied down to Ajax until the end of the 2021-22 season.
