Liverpool Interested in Signing Promising Ligue 1 Star Following 13-Goal Campaign

LIVERPOOL are reportedly keeping tabs on Bordeaux striker Gaetan Laborde.

Laborde, 23, enjoyed an impressive season for Bordeaux, scoring 13 goals across all competitions as they finished sixth in Ligue 1.

And his talents have not gone unnoticed with French outlet La Depeche du Midi claiming Liverpool are interested in signing him.

It is said the Reds have made enquiries about the striker’s availability as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his ranks ahead of next season.

The Reds pipped Arsenal to the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot on the final day of the season, but their fate will be determined in a play-off match in August.

Klopp wants to improve his squad as he sets out on performing well in Europe and mounting a title challenge.

And although Laborde does not have a prolific goalscoring record, he could prove to be a shrewd addition despite recently signing a contract extension until 2020.

The German boss has already attempted to sign Southampton star Virgil van Dijk, but his attempts have sparked fury with the Saints believing they have made an illegal approach to sign him.

Roma star Mohamed Salah has also been heavily linked with the Egypt international reportedly close to joining.

Liverpool have failed to win silverware in the last five seasons and Klopp will be feeling the pressure to succeed.

But he has assured fans that the club is heading in the right direction and there is plenty of room for improvement.

“I know that we are good already but we have so much space to improve – I love it,” Klopp said.

“Being really good and feeling there’s not a lot more possible, that’s still OK but you think how can you keep this? We can really improve. That’s what I’m really looking forward to.

“We have to, obviously, because around us we have a lot but we will really be a challenger, we will fight.

“We will play good football on the good days, on the less good days we will still fight for the result. I really feel positive.”
