Liverpool have opened talks with Gremio over a deal for Luan, according to reports. The 24-year-old plays as a secondary striker for the Brazilian club and has emerged as one of their key players.
Last year, Luan scored 15 goals in 32 appearances to help the club win the Copa Libertadores and reach the final of the Club World Cup where they were beaten by Real Madrid. According to Yahoo Sports, Liverpool have entered discussions over a potential deal for the Brazilian forward.
And their chances of completing a transfer could be boosted by the fact that Luan has an €18 million (£16m) release clause in his contract with Gremio.
Luan’s profile was boosted in further last month after he picked up the prestigious South American Footballer of the Year award, a trophy which has been previously won by Ronaldinho, Neymar and Carlos Tevez. Luan has also been linked with moves to Barcelona and Arsenal.
