Leeds United were reportedly interested in signing Ryan Kent from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, and it seems that they could get a second bite at the cherry in January.
According to The Sun, Leeds, as well as Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, wanted to sign the 21-year-old winger.
The youngster left for SC Freiburg on loan instead, but he has struggled to make an impact at the German club so far this season.
Kent has made only one start and five substitute appearances for Freiburg in the Bundesliga so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.
According to The Sun, Liverpool are worried about Kent’s lack of progress in Germany, and he could be loaned in England instead.
If the Reds are willing to bring back the winger from Germany and then loan out him out to a club in England, then Leeds would be wise to make a move for him in the January transfer window.
True, the West Yorkshire outfit do have options in the attacking department, but recruiting a player of Kent’s quality on loan would not be a bad idea and would only enhance their chances of finishing in the top six of the Championship this season.
The Sun has also reported that Liverpool will not let left-back Andrew Robertson leave on loan in the January transfer window despite him struggling to get into the team since his move to Anfield in the summer transfer window.
