Liverpool legend Ian Rush believes his former side could land Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
Bale, 28, has scored 70 goals in 159 appearances for Madrid since his £85.3million move to the Bernabeu back in 2013 but a string of injuries and the rise of Isco have seen the Welshman linked with a return to the Premier League.
It’s understood both Manchester United and Chelsea have expressed a strong interest in Bale for some time but Rush thinks his compatriot should remain in the Spanish capital for the sake of his own career.
‘Gareth Bale is a world class player – every club in the world would want him,’ the ex-Liverpool striker told The Daily Mirror.
‘From a Welsh point of view, I’d like him to stay, to get more European experience.’ ‘That will benefit Wales. Any English club would want Gareth Bale.’
However, Rush holds out hope that Jurgen Klopp can lure the superstar attacker to Merseyside if he’s pushed out the door at Madrid. He added: ‘Maybe Tottenham have first offer [to bring Bale back to the Premier League].
‘Man United has been talked about, maybe because the goalkeeper [David De Gea] could go the other way?
‘I’d love to see him at Liverpool though. A world class player. ‘We don’t know what will happen, but it would be great to see him back here [in England] and at Liverpool.’
