ARSENAL are reportedly keen on £20m-rated midfielder Kerem Demirbay ahead of the summer transfer window.
Demirbay, a former Turkey youth player but now part of Germany’s national ranks, plies his trade with Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.
The 24-year-old has struggled for form and fitness this season but is regarded as one of Hoffenheim’s most prized assets and could be set for a big-money move this summer.
The London Evening Standard claim that Arsenal are keen with Gunners head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, formerly of Borussia Dortmund, a big fan.
It is said Liverpool are also interested and Demirbay could be up for grabs for around £20m at the end of the season.
Demirbay, who plays mainly as a deep-lying midfielder, was superb last season and made his Germany debut at their victorious Confederations Cup campaign last summer.
He is under contract at Hoffenheim until June 2021 but would be able to secure a major bump in wages with a move to England.
The Standard add that Arsenal are actively seeking out a new central midfielder this summer with doubts over Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.
Both will be out of contract soon and have been linked with a host of clubs in recent weeks.
Demirbay could be drafted in as cover but Arsenal could have to see off competition from rivals Liverpool to his signature.
