Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing the Real Madrid man.
According to a report from Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Liverpool have made contact with Real Madrid over the possibility of signing James Rodriguez in the summer.
The 26-year-old is currently on loan in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, but has played a peripheral role for the Bavarian giants, making just 13 league starts this season.
He has still managed to impress, however, chipping in with four goals and six assists in the Bundesliga this term.
Don Balon claim that the Merseyside outfit see Rodriguez as the perfect replacement for the recently departed Philippe Coutinho, but Madrid are not willing to play ball.
Liverpool will be heavily armed with cash in the summer, but they might find it hard to sign the Colombian, irrelevant of how much money they have, considering the fact that he agreed a two-year loan deal with Bayern at the start of this season.
Much will depend on how happy he is in Munich, and whether the German giants actually want to keep him for the remainder of his loan agreement with them.
One thing is for certain, if Jürgen Klopp does manage to bring Rodriguez to Anfield, he possesses the kind of ability that will make Liverpool an even more deadly attacking outfit, and that is a frightening prospect for their rivals.
