A host of Premier League giants have made contact with Shakhtar Donetsk contract rebel Bernard, according to reports in his native Brazil.
After several underwhelming campaigns with the Ukrainian side, he has hit top form this season – though his current deal expires next summer, making him even more in demand.
He had been linked with a return to his homeland with Palmeiras, but Brazilian website UOL Sport reports that he would prefer to remain in Europe and is attracting lots of interest.
The Premier League now looks like it could be his next destination, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all reaching out to the player’s camp according to a source close to Bernard.
Although the trio of English giants would prefer to pick Bernard up for nothing next summer, they could be forced to move for him in January if competition heats up. But with only a few months to run on his deal, Shakhtar have set an asking price of just £11.5m – a snip in today’s market.
Bernard has long been linked with the Premier League since moving to Shakhtar in 2013, with former Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas trying to bring him to White Hart Lane.
Interest dipped when his form tailed off, and he lost his place in the Brazil team, but he has scored three times in the league this season and grabbed a brace against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
