Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho will be sold in the January transfer window, according to reports in his native France.
The 26-year-old has been banished to the Reds’ Under-23s recently, having refused to leave the club on loan despite interest from Stoke City and Besiktas.
Jurgen Klopp advised Sakho to head out for a temporary spell to regain his form and fitness, after four months on the sideline following a suspension for a failed drug test—for which he was later exonerated—and an injury setback.
But with the German already holding reservations over Sakho’s attitude, an outburst on social media in September proved the final straw.
That is according to L’Equipe, who claim Sakho “no longer exists in Jurgen Klopp’s eyes.”
The French publication suggests Sakho will be sold in January, though no potential suitors are named.
Sakho has made four appearances for the U23s, with Klopp refusing to commenton his standing ahead of Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup round of 16.
