LIVERPOOL are top of the list to recruit Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.
The 25-year-old midfielder is currently on a £9m season-long loan to the Spanish side from Inter Milan. But Teamtalk report that Valencia are unsure whether they should shell out another £22m to sign him permanently.
Liverpool are in the market for a new central midfielder and Kondogbia could fit the bill.
Jurgen Klopp fears that midfield star Emre Can will walk away from Anfield on a free transfer this summer.
Kondogbia is a tough-tackling workhorse who would shore up the Reds’ soft centre alongside the incoming Naby Keita.
Liverpool have also been linked Leicester ace Wilfred Ndidi and Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure in recent weeks. But Kondogbia could be available for far less than the two Premier League enforcers.
He is also the subject of reported interest from China, with Guangzhou Evergrande considering making a move.
The France international recently claimed he was not ready for the pressure he felt at Inter Milan and believes it affected his performances.
“My biggest mistake was to arrive (at Inter) too relaxed, without noticing the noise in Italy about my signing,” he told SoFoot.
“I was not ready for it and I did not like this kind of pressure. Inter and Milan had never fought like that for a foreigner, both clubs came to Monte Carlo to sign me.
“They thought that with me, they would win the Scudetto.”
