Liverpool FC beat Real Madrid to sign Serie A star

Suso has revealed that Liverpool beat off competition from Real Madrid to sign him.

The Spain playmaker, 23, made 21 appearances before leaving Anfield in January 2015 to join AC Milan, where he scored twice in last weekend’s derby with Inter.

But prior to the Reds’ capture of the promising midfielder, Suso claims that he was destined to join the academy ranks of the reigning European champions.

“I had it practically done with Madrid when Liverpool came in,” he told Onda Cero.

“And I wanted to go to the Premier League.”

The 23-year-old left Anfield in 2015 after an underwhelming spell on Merseyside during which he featured in only 14 Premier League games.

And after making only Serie A appearance for Milan last season before being loaned out to Genoa, the Spaniard has been involved in eight Serie A goals (four goals, four assists) this season, more than any of his team-mates.
