You couldn’t blame Liverpool players if they were a little distracted heading into their Premier League clash against Stoke.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are just 90 minutes away from a Champions League final with their upcoming second-leg against Roma on Wednesday.
And they will be looking to finish the job over in Italy after their incredible 5-2 victory at Anfield.
But there was also plenty riding on their league clash against Stoke.
Liverpool went into it needed four points from their final three matches to guarantee a top-four finish and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
And Klopp did his best to ensure everyone knew just how important the match was.
“We are desperate as well, we have exactly the same situation like Stoke. We want to win that game, it’s only about this one game. From my point of view, this is the game of the season, that’s it. This is a final,” Klopp said on Friday.
LIVERPOOL FANS WERE HAMMERING ONE PLAYER
While the German did make a few changes, he did field a very strong side including both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
But one player that was brought into the starting XI was Joe Gomez.
The 20-year-old has been injured for large periods of this season and has struggled in recent weeks when selected.
And once again, Liverpool fans were slating him for his performance against the relegation-threatened side.
Joe Gomez is absolutely abysmal

In fact, they could barely believe how bad he was at times during the disappointing 0-0 draw.
Gomez misplaced numerous passes throughout the match and look bereft of any sort of confidence.
Joe Gomez is astonishing horrible!!! How the hell did he get so bad overnight?

I know Joe Gomez isn't in form but fuck me he hasn't even been average here. Absolutely shocking performance, if it was Moreno people would want him executed!

There were groans whenever he would play the ball backward and even bigger groans when he kept giving the ball away.
Of course, he’s still only young and is still recovering from the ankle injury he picked up on international duty with England.
