Liverpool fans: Vote Gerrard as PL’s greatest midfielder here, as Scholes is currently winning

Sky Sports are currently running a poll, with the aim of discovering the greatest midfielder of the Premier League era.

The nine candidates are Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard (who’s just announced his retirement…) Roy Keane, Xabi Alonso, Patrick Vieira, Claude Makelele, Cesc Fabregas and Yaya Toure.

Currently their votes have them in that order, so it’s up to Liverpool fans to push Gerrard ahead of Scholes.

YOU CAN UP-TICK STEVEN GERRARD, HERE

While the Manchester United legend won countless Premier League titles, Gerrard was the superior individual. Does the fact Scholes won only 66 England caps, shunted out to the left to accommodate for Gerrard and Lampard not suggest this?

Our former skipper was also voted into the PFA Team of the Year on eight occasions to Scholes’s two, came third in the Ballon d’Or voting and won the Premier League Player of the Year award, which Scholes never did.

Gerrard also scored more goals and registered more assists than a player who was frequently used as a second striker in his early days.

Why’s there even an argument…?
