Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made his priorities clear as he picked a young and relatively inexperienced side to play Plymouth Argyle in the third round of theFA Cup this weekend.
The Reds have important League Cup and Premier League encounters on the horizon, so it was up to fringe players and the next generation to stake their claim and prove they can have long-term futures at Anfield.
Things did not go quite according to plan, with the League Two side holding their top flight opponents to a goalless draw, ensuring the two teams will have to do it all again later this month.
Among the Liverpool players on show was Kevin Stewart who, at 23, will understand the importance of regular first-team football.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants to keep Stewart at the club as he offers another option in the centre of the park when required, but he will have to do more than he managed in his 20th outing for the club, even if one fine tackle prevented a goal-scoring chance for the visitors.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of Stewart’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Sell Stewart now. He's never gonna make it at this club#LFC
