Liverpool fans replied the same way after Pele sent class tweet about Alisson move

Liverpool fans were rubbing their hands together when the club unveiled Alisson Becker on Thursday night.

The supporters have been crying out for a top goalkeeper for some time now and Loris Karius’ performance in the Champions League final raised the demand higher than ever.

Reports had suggested that Liverpool had been priced out of a move for Alisson – a player they have tracked for months now – but the transfer saga came together after the World Cup.

It was swiftly announced that a world-record £67 million transfer had been agreed with AS Roma and Liverpool avoided a Nabil Fekir-like collapse by sealing the deal.

Jurgen Klopp was certainly buzzing about the signing, telling Liverpool’s official website: “At one point in the last few weeks it came up, the opportunity to sign one of the world’s best goalkeepers – then it’s not a long thought, to be honest, it’s only that you need to have a little talk with the owners!

“I think it’s something we have to do. He has nothing to do with the price, we have nothing to do with the price, it’s the market, that’s how it is and we will not think a lot about it.

“It was for Brazil not too lucky, that’s how it is, but then he played a really good World Cup. So it’s just a good moment.”

Such is the importance of Liverpool signing a top-class goalkeeper that it should come as no surprise that the move has been met with plenty of reaction, regardless of the world-record fee.

The likes of Jamie Carragher and John Arne Riise have already had their say on the matter.

And now footballing royalty has waded into the debate with Pele posting a classy tweet on Friday afternoon.

The 77-year-old – arguably the greatest footballer of all time – maintains a close connection with the contemporary Brazil squad and couldn’t resist passing on his best wishes.

Check out his tweet below:

Fair to say Pele is quiet the class act.

And Liverpool fans were certainly happy to see a name like Pele wishing Alisson the best at Anfield and alongside his compatriot Roberto Firmino at that.

But there’s just one problem – why didn’t he do the same thing for Fabinho?

Supporters picked up on this little slip-up from Pele who didn’t react to Liverpool’s other Brazilian signing this summer and couldn’t help pointing it out. Take a look below:

Kopites will have to wait for their opportunity to see Alisson in action as he unwinds on holiday after his World Cup campaign with Brazil.

In the meantime, Loris Karius will attempt the unlikely challenge of vying for the number one spot in a pre-season run of games that has already gone poorly.

His mistake in the game against Tranmere Rovers was the latest reminder that a world-class goalkeeper was becoming something of a necessity on Merseyside.

Alisson looks the perfect signing for Liverpool on all accounts and regardless of his nationality, it can only be a positive when none other than Pele is involving himself.
