Since arriving at Liverpool for £13m in January 2013, Daniel Sturridge has divided opinion among Reds fans.
With 59 goals in 113 appearances, the striker has certainly proved his worth.
Unfortunately, Sturridge has all too often been out injured, and this season has only two Premier League goals to his name.
Now the England forward has left Liverpool’s warm weather training camp, having contracted a virus, which prompted debate around his Anfield worth – and future – on social media.
Daniel Sturridge has flown home to the UK early from #LFC training camp due to a virus.

@empireofthekop I'm surprised he isn't allergic to air. His time has come to an end now.

I love sturridge but the man cannot be relied upon. If it's not an injury its this. Time to move on I think… https://t.co/WBu5WcEIlK

Liverpool fans' persecution of Daniel Sturridge is embarrassing.

This season's scapegoats by moronic "fans" who don't have a clue: FSG & Sturridge
— Rex (@LFCRex) February 17, 2017
I guess the superfans would want Sturridge to man up, stay in camp and transmit the virus to all the others

Sturridge gets ill and people assuming he's faking it, or needs to "man up". The agenda against him is mad. No other player gets that.
