Liverpool fans love what Steven Gerrard said about Salah after his 4 goals v Watford

It feels like Mohamed Salah is truly unstoppable right now.

The Egyptian scored his 36th goal of the season after he put four past Watford in a 5-0 win for Liverpool that saw them rise to third in the Premier League table.

They are now just two points behind Manchester United and with the Red Devils and Spurs – the team they leapfrogged – playing in the FA Cup this weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s men have taken full advantage.

Salah tore the Hornets to shreds from start to finish and two of his goals were sumptuous individual efforts that have become the £35 million man’s hallmark.

Understandably, the pundits were waxing lyrical about the former Chelsea man and Steven Gerrard made a bold proclamation at half-time.

The Liverpool legend insisted Salah is “the best player in the Premier league right now on current form.”

Then, Salah would go on to score two more in the second half and Gerrard really opened up on his praise for the goal machine after the game.

“It’s difficult to find new words to say about him; everyone is raving about him right now and rightly so. I think we’re witnessing the start of greatness. If he’s around for long enough, he’s well capable of going on to achieve whatever he wants.

“Whatever he wants to be as a footballer, really. Yeah, of course, he’ll get judged in the long-term on delivering trophies and stuff and so will the rest of the team, but, his performances this season in a debut season has been magnificent.”

Gerrard has every right to label Salah the best player in the league right now, even with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Eden Hazard for company.

Salah has been involved in 44 goals for Liverpool this season in 44 games and considering Liverpool fans were gagging for defenders when Klopp splashed a near-record fee on the forward, what a purchase he has turned out to be.

It comes as no surprise that the Liverpool fans agree with Gerrard too – surely everyone does!

Salah’s first strike against Watford was very reminiscent of Lionel Messi’s sublime goal against Bayern Munich back in 2015, but Klopp made sure back in February that everyone wan’t getting carried away with comparisons just yet.

“In the business? All over the world? Lionel Messi, is he left-footed, Lionel? Well, maybe we shouldn’t forget him completely,” the German said.

“But yes, the best in the world – I’m not too much interested in this category but he’s got a good one. I’m happy about that.

“I am more surprised that he had a header as well and probably with the right foot he scored a few.

“So I don’t care which part of his body he uses. It’s for him like for all the other boys, but yes it’s a very good left foot for sure.”
