Liverpool fans have tweeted the brutal truth about reaction to Mane not passing to Salah

Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 on Saturday to maintain their 100% start in the Premier League.

And yet arguably the biggest talking point from the victory wasn’t the Reds’ performance, but Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane’s apparent lack of understanding.

It was noticed by Liverpool fans during the game that Mane wasn’t passing to Salah when the Egyptian was in space.

Instead, Mane kept holding onto the ball for too long and ended up choosing the wrong option or going for goal himself.

On one occasion the Senegalese had Salah to his right and Naby Keita to his left – both were in goalscoring positions – yet he passed to Keita, who shot wide.

Salah was undoubtedly the better choice and it happened several times, which saw Mane slammed by Liverpool fans after the game.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, manager Jurgen Klopp insisted there was nothing wrong between Salah and Mane and that being greedy is “normal”.

“It’s not greedy. It’s normal,” said the German. “I want them to score and encourage them to do so, but there are moments when they have to pass.

“Maybe one situation I would say a pass would have been better, all the others were OK. The boys are used to the situation when they score from these positions.

“These boys are such a threat to each team. These runs they do, gives us the space to get in between. That is how we scored the second goal.

“So if they don’t score one day, I have no problem with that.”

Mane received so much abuse for his performance – mostly from Egyptian Liverpool fans – that he was forced to take down a generic celebratory Instagram post after the game.

And now one Reds supporter has spoken the brutal truth on Twitter about the “disgusting” way Mane has been treated.

“It’s fine if you started supporting us because of Salah, but it’s not fine if you only support Salah and see the other 10 players as his enemies,” the tweet reads.

“No player is bigger than the club. This Mane abuse since yesterday is disgusting… Either support everyone, or don’t at all.”

Well said. Mane has made a fantastic start to the new season and wants to continue scoring goals for Liverpool – which he shouldn’t be abused for just because of Salah.

@AnfieldAn’s tweet has caused quite the stir of its own, though most Liverpool fans – and even Salah supporters – seem to be in agreement.
