Respected La Liga journalist Guillem Balague doesn’t think Barcelona will move for Coutinho this summer, which will please Liverpool fans everywhere.
Recently, Brazil and Barca legend Rivaldo touted a potential transfer, stating that our no.10 would thrive in Spain alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
But Balague says a move isn’t on the cards, because Barca have the best front-three in the world and there’s currently no spot for our star in their team.
“I don’t think so. There has been no real interest from Barcelona for the Liverpool forward,” the journalist told Sky Sports.
“I know Rivaldo has spoken about it but it doesn’t make sense because they see him as a forward and the front three will be the front three next season.”
Really, Coutinho would be a natural long-term replacement for Andres Iniesta in the midfield playmaker role, but if Barca consider him a forward – that’s fine by us!
Our 24-year-old has a lengthy contract and you’d have to say the only clubs who could likely turn his head are Barcelona or Real Madrid.
PSG are a smaller club and providing we can offer Champions League football next term, they shouldn’t be considered a threat.
We’re backing O Magico to strut his stuff on Merseyside for many more seasons.
