Liverpool fans can’t get enough of what Fabinho said about Fekir in first interview

Out of nowhere, Liverpool have completed the £44 million signing of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho.

It was expected that Jurgen Klopp would bolster his midfield options this summer given the imminent departure of Emre Can and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury.

But with Naby Keita already on his way to Anfield from RB Leipzig, no one expected Liverpool to sign another central player so soon after the Champions League final.

Fabinho, who will complete his move from Monaco on July 1, is a natural No.6 and there are suspicions he will rival captain Jordan Henderson for his place in the team.

“I am really excited about this move,” said Fabinho at his unveiling. “This is something that I always wanted – this is a giant of a team. The infrastructures of the club look exceptional.

“A football club of this size coming after my services, I didn’t have to think that much about coming over. I will try to create my own history at this football club.

“Hopefully, on a personal level, I’m able to win titles with this club. I will try to grow and learn and improve myself, and to be part of the club’s history.”

FABINHO: IT’S A DREAM COME TRUE
Liverpool fans are ecstatic with the capture of Fabinho, yet it could get even better for the Reds over the coming weeks.

Not only are they being linked with a £60 million move with AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson to replace Loris Karius, but Klopp is reportedly keen to push a deal for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir.

Klopp knows that Fekir’s value could rise over the coming months with the World Cup on the horizon, so he’s looking to tie things up beforehand.

And it would appear Fabinho wants the transfer to happen, too, judging by the 24-year-old’s comments about Fekir in his first ever interview as a Liverpool player.

“He is a very good player, of international level,’ he told RMC Sport. “In Ligue 1, it is not only this season that he has demonstrated things.

“For a few years he has shown his quality. If he comes, it will be good too.”
