Liverpool fans are astonished by what Fernandinho has said before CL second leg

Manchester City go into their Champions League second leg against Liverpool needing to overturn a massive deficit.

Pep Guardiola’s side came into the tie as the favourites to progress, but they were completely blown away by their opponents.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane mean Liverpool travel to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday with a three goal advantage.

And Guardiola has admitted that his side need to execute the perfect game if they are to progress.

“To go through we have to make almost the perfect game,” Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference. “But we have 90mins and everything can happen. We will try and we will see. We have to score the first goal.”

Jurgen Klopp has got Liverpool playing some tremendous football.

Inspired by the brilliance of Mane, Salah and Roberto Firmino up front, many think that Liverpool play the best football in the Premier League. And there’s every reason to believe that.

But it is clear that Klopp’s side have a few critics.

Speaking before their tie at the Etihad on Tuesday, Man City’s midfield enforcer, Fernandinho, stated his belief that Liverpool were a side that played ‘long balls’.

Okay then, Fernandinho.

The Brazilian midfielder has clearly not been watching Liverpool this season.

Liverpool have scored 75 goals this season, second only to Man City. You don’t get that sort of return by playing long balls.

Anyhow, It’s almost impossible to envisage that Salah, Mane and Firmino would have had the same success if they had been feeding off route one football.

Whether Fernandinho’s comments were trash talk or not, he has still sparked quite a stir on Twitter.
