Liverpool took a giant step into the Champions League final after blowing Roma away at Anfield.
It was fairly even in the first half hour, but Liverpool took the initiative after Mohamed Salah scored a beautiful curling effort against his former side in the 35th minute.
The Egyptian then doubled his side’s advantage just before half-time with a lovely dinked finish past Alisson Becker.
And Liverpool ran away with it in the second half. Sadio Mane made it three ten minutes into the second half, and Roberto Firmino netted a brace to give Liverpool a quite unbelievable five goal lead.
Roma pulled two goals back late on through Edin Dzeko and Diego Perotti, but they have it all to do in the reverse fixture in Italy if they want to progress to the final in Kiev.
It truly was an incredible performance from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
FIRMINO HAD LIVERPOOL FANS TALKING
The plaudits will go to Salah, and rightly so.
The 25-year-old was sensational once again for Liverpool. He scored the first two, and then set up the next two as he put in a truly extraordinary display.
But Liverpool fans also appreciated the performance of Firmino.
The Brazilian forward was a real menace throughout the game.
He put in a workmanlike performance in the first-half, and was rewarded for his efforts by notching twice in the second 45 minutes.
Salah produced a man-of-the-match performance, but Firmino was also in a league of his own.
And Liverpool fans were all raving about his performance on Twitter.
Firmino has often not got the credit he deserves, and some of that has been down to the brilliance of Salah.
But his performance highlighted to many just how underrated he is, with many also pointing out how crucial he is to Liverpool’s system.
It must be said, they’re absolutely spot on.
People said we need an out-and-out striker, that we didn't have one in Firmino. We don't. We have better. We have a striker that scores, creates, defends, dispossess and works constant for 90 minutes. A new type of striker. A 6 in 1.

Firmino though. Doesn’t get the credit Salah gets, but he’s just as vital for what we do. Genuinely world class.
