The German side aren’t unfamiliar with losing players to Premier League clubs for free. In fact, to of the clubs being linked with Goretzka; Arsenal and Liverpool; have benefitted from players letting contracts run out at Schalke in the recent past.
Both Joel Matip and Sead Kolasinac have become regulars for their clubs and whoever gets Goretzka will be getting a top player for free.
Whether the 22-year-old agrees to extend his stay at Schalke remains to be seen but if he is willing to turn down their big money offer, Liverpool will be hoping that he will move to Merseyside.
