Liverpool have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of highly-rated French star Christopher Nkunku after the 20-year-old warned Paris Saint-Germain he wants regular first-team football next season.
The France U21 international started just five Ligue 1 games this season and has been linked with a move to both Liverpool and Fiorentina.
There’s no word on the fee PSG would seek for the young attacker, but reports in France have indicated a £16m deal could be struck for a player a long way down their pecking order.
And with his PSG career seemingly in the balance, Nkunku has warned he will leave the French giants if he is not given regular first-team football next season.
“I’d liked for things to have gone better, for me to play more. When I had plating time, I tried to make the most of it,” he told L’Equipe.
“We’ll see what happens after the holidays, at the beginning of July. What’s clear in my head, is that I’m not ready to face a season in which I don’t play, or do so very little.
“If the Coach wants to use me more in the rotation, I’ll have to think about it. I need to establish myself in a particular role and work on it so I improve.”
