Liverpool enjoyed an exceptional summer transfer window.
The club made a couple of first-team signings, bringing in both Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota, along with the back-up Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas.
Jota has been in exceptional form this term, too, scoring seven goals in 10 games for the club thus far this season.
He even netted a brilliant Champions League hat-trick against Atalanta earlier this week.
Thiago is an exceptional talent, too, a world-class central midfielder snaffled away from Bayern Munich, and it appears that the Reds could be looking to sign another player from the Bavarian giants.
Football Insider reports that the club have been told that David Alaba could be available for a bargain fee in the January transfer window.
The Austria international’s future at the club is in doubt as they struggle to agree to a new contract.
Liverpool are interested in Alaba, who has a contract that runs until the end of the season, and he could be available for as little as £30m at the turn of the year.
Transfermarkt value the defender at £58.5m but it seems the Reds could snap him up for around half that figure.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in Alaba, who can sign a pre-contract with a European club in the January transfer window should he so wish.
He could also be available on a free transfer next summer, but the Reds could look to steal a march on their rivals by making a bid in January.
Alaba joined Bayern in 2010 and has won the Bundesliga nine times, the German Cup six times, the Champions League twice, the UEFA Super Cup twice, and the FIFA Club World Cup once.
A player with such a bulging trophy cabinet doesn’t come on the market all that often.
