Liverpool considering La Liga goalkeeper as long-term replacement of Loris Karius

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Daniel Martin from Sporting Gijon in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that Liverpool want to sign Martin and then either loan him out or make him part of the first-team squad should Danny Ward leave.

The Reds reportedly want to groom the 19-year-old as a long-term replacement for 25-year-old German goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Martin is a very talented and promising young goalkeeper, and the 19-year-old would be a good long-term signing for Liverpool. The Spaniard is still developing and progressing, and it would not be wise to expect him to make an instant impact at Liverpool.

Loaning him out would be a good idea, as that would enable Martin to get some valuable playing time in a competitive environment.

If Liverpool sign Martin, then that could be the end of Ward at Liverpool, with the 25-year-old Wales international goalkeeper having failed to establish himself in the Reds’ first team so far.

The Welshman is on the radar of Championship duo Norwich City and Swansea City, according to The Sunday Mirror
