LIVERPOOL are reportedly considering a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze to replace Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho, 24, has emerged as a transfer target for Barcelona as they look to replace the declining Andres Iniesta.
And Liverpool could be left scrambling for midfield replacements should their Brazilian maestro depart for Spain.
Transfer Market Web say Jurgen Klopp could look to a familiar face should Coutinho head to the Nou Camp.
They report the German manager could make a move for former player Gotze if he loses Coutinho.
Klopp managed the 24-year-old Germany star for four seasons when he plied his trade in the Bundesliga.
And Gotze never recaptured the form he developed under the Liverpool boss after he ditched Dortmund for Bayern Munich in 2013, which could lead to him wanting a reunion with Klopp.
Transfer Market Web acknowledge Gotze is unlikely to leave Germany in the immediate future as his current deal doesn’t run out until 2020.
But nonetheless the report claims Liverpool have put him on their wishlist should Coutinho depart.
