Liverpool consider £17m move to make La Liga defender their first January signing

Liverpool are thought to be considering a £17m move to sign Real Betis defender Riza Durmisi, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Jurgen Klopp has been keeping tabs on the Danish left-back as the Liverpool manager looks to address what has been a problem position in the 2016-17 season.

Former England international James Milner has been covering at left-back throughout the campaign after it became obvious that Klopp was uncomfortable using Alberto Moreno at full-back.

The same article states that Durmisi has a £17m buyout clause that Liverpool would need to activate to sign the defender.

The 23-year-old has started 12 La Liga games in the 2016-17 season for Real Betis.

Liverpool have endured a tough start to the 2016-17 Premier League campaign after winning one of their seven games in all competitions so far.

The Reds crashed out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night after Liverpool lost 1-0 to Southampton in the second leg of the last-four clash at Anfield.
