Liverpool are one of many English clubs reportedly interested in landing Caen youngster Elye Wahi.
It’s claimed by Le Parisien that the Liverpool are one of several clubs across Europe keeping an eye on the 14-year-old, who has been impressing in recent times.
The youngster has been catching the attention of several youth scouts at top clubs across the continent, and the Reds are on red alert after the attacking player was promoted to Caen’s Under-17 side.
The report states that Liverpool’s representatives are among those casting a keen eye over Wahi, with the youngster having already made his U17 debut for Caen. He netted twice, but couldn’t prevent his side from losing 5-2 to a rampant PSG outfit.
14-year-old Wahi is said to have scored 89 goals last season at under-14 and under-15 levels, ‘whetting the appetite’ of Tottenham, Liverpool and Southampton, along with Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus.
Caen have a reputation for nurturing young French talent over the years, such as N’Golo Kante, Thomas Lemar and Yann Karamoh, and it looks as though Wahi is one of their prized young assets despite his tender age.
Wahi may not be an exciting player for the here and now, and he could be one for the future, and the Reds are evidently interested.
