Liverpool close to complete transfer of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder as player visits Melwood

Liverpool look to be closing in on Kai Havertz with the Bayer Leverkusen starlet having visited Melwood training ground.

The 18-year-old only signed a five-year deal in July at the BayArena, but the Reds have stepped up their interest in the midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp, Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho greeted ‘the next Mesut Ozil’ in October, report Football Whispers.

With four goals and three assists in just five starts this campaign, Liverpool will likely face stiff competition for the player.

However, reports he has visited Melwood have been denied in other quarters, notably from the New York Times; nonetheless, it appears there is real interest in the German youngster.
