According to the reports, Liverpool and Arsenal have joined the race for Red Bull Lepzig striker Timo Werner, who is attracting interest from the Premier League’s elite, reports claim.
The frontman is already being chased by Chelsea and Manchester United having rejected a new deal with the Bundesliga club. Arsene Wenger sent a club official to monitor the Germany international during their Europa League tie against Napoli.
And he sufficiently impressed the Arsenal scout with a man of the match display, scoring two goals for the away team.
The 21-year-old is considered to be one of the finest talents in Germany and has banged in 15 goals in 24 starts across all competitions this season, including three strikes in four Champions League starts.
He’s no one-season wonder either, having thumped home 21 goals in 28 league starts in the 2016/17 campaign, while he has already been capped 10 times for Germany, scoring seven goals for Die Mannschaft.
Arsenal have a German core at the Emirates, with Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Per Mertesacker all enjoying life in north London and they are hoping to lure him to the Premier League.
As well as facing competition from their domestic rivals, though, the Gunners will have to pip Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid to his signature.
